Chronic Pain Management

How To Use It To Your Advantage

What Chronic Pain Management can do for you.

How Do You Do It?

What is chronic pain management?

Finding what works best for you.

Due to the federal regulations on medications and the doctors who are afraid to prescribe them, we are in a bad situation. What are we suppose to do?

You can learn other ways to work with your chronic pain and the management of it. The good news is that more doctors are now paying attention to the issue of pain and, as a result, there are more ways than ever to tackle the problem.

When you are in good mental, physical and spiritual condition, your pain is less. That is because your body is at ease when your life is balanced.

Unfortunately, pain makes everything harder, even taking care of yourself. That is where the downward spiral takes it’s toll. When you hurt, you want to stop. You stop exercising and load up on junk food, you hurt more. So, if you have not made a basic wellness program, I suggest you do so. This needs to be your number-one priority in life even if your mobility is limited.

By using these strategies, you will feel better about managing your chronic pain. You will feel better about yourself, and will feel better physically, also.

  • Reducing Stress
  • Pain causes stress and stress causes pain. If you get trapped in this cycle you will forget what it feels to relax and enjoy life. Find a comfortable quiet place to meditate. Just let your mind wander. You know your favorite methods of stress relief, give yourself the permission to use them. Block the pain from your mind as best you can and relax. Find some alone time to relax. Even if for a short nap, a walk, or do a hobby.

  • Get Yourself Moving
  • You need to try to balance out movement with rest. The more you move around the better you will feel. Exercise increases your natural endorphins which helps reduce the pain in muscles and stiffness in the tissues. This can also reduce many of pain’s secondary effects, such as depression, anxiety, sleeplessness and poor digestion.

  • Your Diet
  • I know that potato chips and chocolate are comfort foods we all enjoy. But, people needing chronic pain management, this is the worse thing you could eat.

Too much red meat, junk food and limited fruits and fresh vegetables will help to increase your pain. They increase inflammation, and add unwanted pounds that puts more stress on your joints. An easy to follow pain control diet can significantly reduce pain and improve your well being.

  • Normal Life Is Important
  • Pain can be so isolating for all of us. We spend too much time alone, in front of the television or playing video games. They leave you feeling more drained than alive. If you get out and socialize, your mental health and the social stimulation it affords is vital for your health. You have to find ways to increase your involvement in life. You could find a new hobby that is satisfying to you, join a support group or even get in touch with an old friend.

Keep in mind that there are many therapies you could try. Two are:

Do, keep in mind that the same therapy doesn't work the same for everyone. Also, keep in mind, the treatment should fit your situation, your finances and your mind/body.

Go ahead and test this theory. You never know what this can do to help your chronic pain management.
