What is Fibromyalgia

What is Fibromyalgia, it is a disease. It causes wide spread pain throughout the body. It also causes muscle pain anywhere in the body.

However, there are tests that eliminate other diseases that have the same symptoms as fibromyalgia. Those are chronic fatigue syndrome, lupus, allergies, multiple sclerosis and others.

Some of the symptoms of fibromyalgia are pain in the muscles, tender points, (trigger points) fatigue, sensitivity to light, hot and cold body temperatures and poor sleep.

Fibromyalgia affects approximately 2% of the population in the United States, and is 4 times more likely in women than men.

The best doctor to visit, if you think you may have fibromyalgia, is a rheumatologists.

Many doctors think you are a drug seeker because they don’t fully understand this disease. There are two symptoms that stand out, pain and tender points. Exercise, in moderation, will help keep the blood flowing more freely through the swollen muscles and help with the pain.
